The key findings are:

Efficiency can stabilise energy consumption up to 2030.
Under these circumstances ever greater penertration of renewable energy can lead to significant decarbonisation and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

In qauntitative terms, emissions reductions from the energy system of 40% by 2030 are shown to be entirely feasible. The research finds that savings in MtC per year by 2030 could feasibly come from:

Energy efficiency 688MtC 57% of savings.

All generation technologies 512MtC 43% of savings.
