Bob Dylan , Still Relavent as Ever

I think Dylan sums up the plight of those trying to prevent action on climate change quite well!

I wonder, has a better song ever been written? Not that I am aware of.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

The Big Ask: A Strong Climate Bill (Set to music)

Johnny Borrel, lead singer of Razorlight continues his steadfast support of 'The Big Ask' campaign by Friends of the Earth.

His latest contribution is a song inspired by climate change, and now available for free to download from the Friends of the Earth website.

A new Razorlight song has been recorded by Johnny Borrell in support of The Big
Ask, Friends of the Earth climate campaign, at the UK's only solar powered
recording studio today (30 May). The song, Funeral Blues, has been recorded to
highlight the solutions to climate change which exist and which could flourish
if the Government introduces a strong climate change law [1].Funeral Blues was
recorded in Studio A at The Premises in Hoxton, East London which is powered by
18 solar panels [2]. It is available to download for free for two weeks from
Friends of the Earths website.

Johnny Said:

"I really enjoyed recording my first solar powered song - the studio made
tackling climate change easy. I'd like to see this sort of thing take off
right across the UK. That's why I support The Big Ask, Friends of the Earth's
campaign for a strong climate change law. A strong law will force the Government
to make it easier and cheaper for everyone to make the most of solar energy -
and the many other climate change solutions which are out there."

Musical Interlude: Jill Sobule a happy song about global warming

From video description on youtube:

Like nearly everyone at TED2006, Jill Sobule was stirred by Al Gore's spectacular speech on the clear and present danger of climate change. The time for action is now, Jill thought. And so she wrote a song. But since everyone else was so down about the impending collapse of ecological systems, which could lead to floods, drought, hurricanes, mosquito overpopulation and species extinction, she decided to write a happy song about global warming. And here it is: Inspired by TED Curator Chris Anderson (who cameos here). Written and performed first at TED. Al Gore loved it, and so will you...

A musical interlude (as seen on Celsias)

Step it up 2007 is building momentum.

In no small part this is due to a number of interesting ways that they are promoting the day (April 14th) with videos and music.

They are also working with songwriters,or anyone willing to give it a shot, in order to build a collection of climate protest songs. Something any self respecting movement needs!

This song bellow is 'Step It Up' by The Gallerists.
