Truecostofchevron.com

The True Cost of Chevron Campaign today launched a new website as a hub of information on Chevron’s global toxic operations. The website highlights Chevron’s human and environmental consequences around the world while illustrating the unprecedented coalition against Chevron.

“ We are excited to launch this comprehensive site illustrating the breadth of Chevron’s destructive operations globally,” said Nick Magel, True Cost of Chevron media coordinator.

The website launch was to be coupled with an ad campaign, intended to highlight communities affected by Chevrons operations. The ads, designed as parodies of Chevron’s “Will You Join Us” advertisement blitz were immediately rejected by CBS Outdoor.

"Chevron is running a campaign that's merely window-dressing their dismal environmental and human rights record. It's hypocritical for CBS to reject our billboards. It's a shame that we can't help our client tell their story with a billboard or two." said Charlie Cardillo, President and Creative Director of Underground Advertising, the agency that developed the campaign.

On May 26th the True Cost of Chevron Campaign releases it's alternative annual report for the consideration of Chevron shareholders at the May 27th AGM

Policing of the Kingsnorth Climate Camp: Preventing Disorder or Preventing Protest?

H/T to BRITCIT

This was released a little while back, so sorry for the delay!

Lib Dem MP David Howarth held a meeting in Westminster to present a highly disturbing and potentially explosive report on the way police in the UK are criminalising legitimate protest. The report, produced by the Climate Camp's legal support team and entitled Policing of the Kingsnorth Climate Camp: Preventing Disorder or Preventing Protest?, is devastating for the police.

It documents a concerted campaign by police to deter, smear, intimidate, harass, and criminalise UK citizens who did nothing more than attempt to exercise their right to peaceful protest in the name of an important cause.

Freedom to report, freedom of expression? NPower and Didcot coal fired power station.

I can't quite believe this report...

Another great example of coal power, corporate power and serious erosion of basic human rights in the UK.

NPower, you are a disgrace.

More importantly, to NPower customers, if you would like to change then please consider ecotricity. I have just change, I had an NPower 'Juice' account, there green energy scheme but after this I really had to change. Basically you just have to enter your address, add give them your power bill number and fill in a direct debit form...that simple. Takes a minute and makes a point, perticularly if you send a quick email to explain why you have cancelled your account.

I personally used the following email address as it is probably better than customer services for getting attention csr.feedback@rwenpower.com (CSR is corporate social responsibility).

Finally, if you wan't to send a copy of your letter to someone else with influence then you might try RWE NPower CEO Andy Duff, by email: andy.duff@rwenpower.com and by mail:
